Working out a tip and splitting a bill at the table should take seconds, not mental gymnastics — especially when a group is waiting and the service charge is unclear. This calculator handles the tip, the total, and the per-person split in one place.

How it works

Enter the bill amount and choose a tip percentage (there are quick presets from 10% to 25%, plus a custom field). The tool immediately shows the tip amount and the grand total. Set the number of people and it divides everything evenly, showing what each person owes.

Rounding for convenience

The "round total up" option bumps the final total to the next whole unit and recalculates the tip to match — handy when you want to leave a clean, easy amount or avoid fiddling with small change.

Tipping around the world

Tipping norms vary enormously, which is why this tool is currency-agnostic and lets you set any percentage:

- **United States / Canada** — 15–20% is expected at sit-down restaurants; service is rarely included. - **Europe** — often 5–10%, and frequently a service charge is already on the bill. - **Japan and much of East Asia** — tipping is uncommon and can even cause confusion. - **Many countries** — rounding up or leaving small change is the norm.

When a service charge is already included, you generally don't need to add a full tip on top.
