How exact age is calculated

Age is not simply "today's year minus your birth year." That only works if your birthday has already passed this year. The correct method counts complete years first, then the leftover months, then the leftover days — borrowing from the previous month when needed, exactly the way you'd say it out loud: "34 years, 2 months, and 5 days." This calculator does that borrowing precisely, accounting for months of different lengths and for leap years.

Age in days, weeks, and hours

Beyond the years-months-days figure, the tool also shows your age as a single large number in months, weeks, days, and hours. These are popular for birthday cards and milestones — for example, celebrating your 10,000th day alive (roughly age 27) or your billionth second (about age 31).

Your next birthday

The calculator finds the next occurrence of your birthday and counts the days until it. If today is your birthday, it says so.

The day you were born

It also tells you which day of the week you were born on — Monday's child, Friday's child, and so on — computed from the actual calendar.
