About This Tool

Getting a piece of text from one device to another is a surprisingly common headache. You find a link on your laptop but need it on your phone. A colleague needs a config snippet, a password, or an address — right now. Emailing yourself or typing it out by hand is slow and error-prone. Live Share fixes this with a simple connect-by-code model.

How it works

One person clicks "Create session" and receives a six-character code. They share that code — read it aloud, text it, or show it on screen. The other person enters the code to join. From that moment, anything typed or pasted by either side appears instantly on both screens. Every message has a one-tap copy button, so moving text onto the other device takes a single click.

Why connect-by-code?

There's no account, no contact list, and no app to install. A short code is the entire handshake, which makes it fast for ad-hoc sharing between strangers, teammates, or your own two devices. When you're done, just leave the session.

Great for

- Sending a link or password from desktop to phone (and back) - Sharing a code snippet or command with someone on a call - Passing an address, tracking number, or OTP between devices - Quick collaborative scratchpad during a meeting

Privacy & lifespan

Sessions are temporary and held only in server memory — they're automatically cleared after a period of inactivity and are never written to a permanent database. For anything sensitive, share it, copy it on the other device, and then leave the session so the text is discarded.
